Sundays and Mondays Tax Preparation – The VITA Program will be providing free income tax preparation for all ages and low income families on Sundays 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Mondays 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. January 27 - April 15. March 6 Wednesday Become a Volunteer Tutor and help make a difference in someone's life !- 1:00 p.m. Join Tami Jackson, Executive Director of the Literacy Volunteers of Southern CT, as she shares how their training course will prepare you to assist ESOL students. Also, how to avoid the common mistakes that are made when collecting benefits and discuss special situation rules. March 14 Thursday "Music is More than Melody" – 1:00 p.m. Come explore the magic of classical music. Using audio clips from upcoming concerts, embark on a tour of musical structure that evokes interest and understanding of this great genre of music. March 18 Monday Prevent Type 2 Diabetes- 1:00 p.m. This informational meeting will discuss Prevent T2- a lifestyle change program, from the CDC, proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Learn if you are eligible and what the curriculum includes. We will host a class here at the center if there are enough registrations, beginning Thursday, March 21 at 1 pm. Presented by Dr. Dana Wade, CEO of Monitor My Health, Inc. which is a non-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization. They screen for diabetes & prediabetes, heart disease risk factors, high blood pressure, and provide CDC approved lifestyle coaching.
